Graduate & Professional Student Research Forum

The UNLV Graduate & Professional Student Association and Graduate College jointly host the Graduate & Professional Student Research Forum each spring, which showcases excellence in research conducted at the graduate/professional level. Next year’s event will be held at the UNLV Student Union, Saturday, March 28, 2009.

Graduate and professional students participate in the annual forum by sharing their research with peers and faculty from across campus, and experience the wide breadth of scholarship generated by the graduate and professional programs at UNLV. This year's Research Forum schedule outlines the event's sessions.

Students present their research either as a poster or as an oral presentation. Students presenting a poster must attend the Research Forum and physically staff their posters and field questions from the judges. Posters exceeding the guidelines for size ( ), may not be displayed (due to space availablity). Posters must be submitted to the GPSA office, Lied Library room 3251, one week prior to the Research Forum event. Awards are given at the close of the event to recognize outstanding presentations.

Faculty interested in supporting the Research Forum as judges may contact Heather Lusty, GPSA Vice President and Chair of the Research Forum Committee, at anytime during the year. Faculty are encouraged to come support their students and attend all forum sessions.

Each year, the GPSA awards grants for research and conference travel to support projects that directly affect a student’s degree program and make a contribution to his/her discipline. In 2007-2008, $85,000 was awarded to students for research and conference travel. Participation in the research forum is a requirement for students who received GPSA funding for the 2008-2009 academic year. The forum is open to all UNLV graduate and professional students. The deadline to register for next year's event is March 1, 2009.
