Student Financial Services
Award monies from scholarships, fellowships, and grants are distributed through the Student Financial Services (SFS) office. Annual awards are divided into two disbursements, fall and spring, and are applied to the student's account. The process is this:
1) The awarding department will send SFS a roster indicated the students selected for scholarship, grant, etc.
2) Provided the information is correct (account numbers, name, etc.) and the students are eligible to receive the award, SFS will disburse the funds directly to the student fee account. They usually disburse on Mondays and Wednesdays, with checks mailed from the Bursar's office on Fridays.
If there are account or eligibility issues, the SFS Scholarship office will contact the department right away to resolve them.
FAFSA (Federal Application for Student Aid)
Many scholarship agencies and donors require students to complete the FAFSA and to demonstrate an extended search for financial aid opportunities beyond scholarships. You are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
