New in town and looking for something to do:

ART

FIRST FRIDAY is an ongoing arts, entertainment, and social block party held the first Friday of each month in the Las Vegas Arts District.

Get a taste of the arts at the Las Vegas Art Museum at 9600 W Sahara. Entrances fees vary, based on the exhibitions.

The Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art houses Steve Wynn’s private art collect. For a description of the current exhibit visit their homepage. Local and student discounts are offered.

Vegas Art House - this website lists arthouse movies, independent films and documentaries playing in Las Vegas.

 

NATURE

Unwind at man-made Lake Mead. It has several marinas, fishing and swimming.

Spectacular views, campsites and hiking trails are nearby at the Valley of Fire located 50 miles NW of Las Vegas.

Red Rock Canyon, 15 miles west of Las Vegas, has a scenic loop that is not to be missed. It runs $5 a carload and gives you access to numerous hiking trails and picnic areas.

Enjoy the indigenous Mohave Desert vegetation at the new Springs Preserve located at 333 S. Valley View Blvd and discover survival skills for desert living.

Mount Charleston is 35 miles NW of US 95 N located in the Spring Mountain Range. Visit the numerous campsites, hiking trails, picnic areas, cabins and climb the third-highest peak in Nevada at 11,913 feet.
