Each year, the Graduate & Professional Student Association recognizes a variety of individuals from across disciplines and classification at the university for their contributions to the development and continuing growth of the GPSA at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Deadline for nominations is November 30, 2008. Please submit completed nomination packet to the GPSA, Lied Library room 3251.
Brief descriptions of the awards are listed below. All awards are for faculty, students and staff at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Other Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) institutions’ members are ineligible for these awards. All nominations require a coversheet attached to the applicants packet. GPSA Outstanding Mentor Award
The purpose of the GPSA Outstanding Mentor Award is to acknowledge UNLV faculty who have demonstrated continued success in preparing graduate and professional students for academia. Each academic year, the GPSA recognizes up to three faculty members providing outstanding research/teaching mentorship.
GPSA Merit Award
The purpose of the GPSA Merit Award is to acknowledge no more than three graduate and professional students each academic year who have supported the mission of the Graduate and Professional Student Association. This award was enacted to honor members of the Council, but also those graduate and professional students who have volunteered their time and effort to the organization without an official position or title.
Although this award is intended for individuals, groups who by their collaboration have made major advances may be recognized as well. The intent is to select no more than three individual(s) (or group(s) for recognition each year.
GPSA Distinguished Contribution Award
The purpose of the GPSA Distinguished Contribution Award is to acknowledge up to 3 members for their service to the GPSA each academic year from the following categories: UNLV Administration, Faculty, and Staff. This award was enacted to bestow formal recognition upon devoted supporters of the GPSA who have made contributions that better the life of graduate and professional students.
GPSA Distinguished Service Award
The purpose of the Distinguished Service Award is to acknowledge one individual each academic year who has demonstrated multiple years of service and outstanding dedication to the Graduate & Professional Student Association. This award was enacted to bestow formal recognition upon devoted supporters of the GPSA who have made contributions that better the life of graduate and professional students.
