Budget Cuts Part 2 - "Keep the momentum going!"
was held Thursday, March 26, 2009 - 6:00 - 7:30pm @ the
UNLV Academic Mall. A letter signing was held to specifically target state legislators that are "swing" and "no" votes on the NSHE budget issue. If you couldn't make it please contact your legislators today!

On January 22, 2009 over 3000 concerned citizens gathered at UNLV to join with the GPSA, CSUN, Nevada State College and the College of Southern Nevada to rally against the budget cuts. Read more.

The GPSA in conjunction with CSUN, CSN and NSC recently erected 8 foot "R.I.P." tombstones on each of their respective campuses. Each tombstone carries a message of what Nevada students have to lose if these budgets cuts are carried through. The hope is that this action gets students active. Please talk to your cohorts about this. Email them. Let them know that the budget cuts are looming and they will be disastrous for the Nevada System of Higher Education. Hear how Nevada students of higher education are speaking out.

Your voice matters! What can you do:

  • California is facing similiar battles with budget cuts threatening the California State University system. Read how students, parents and the community are getting involved to preserve education for students.
  • Nevada legislative meetings are available to view. Feedback (best received are short messages in response to Internet or news coverage) is encouraged and can be sent to your legislator. Their contact information is provided below.
